Gatsby Central Idea

The central idea that i think the great gatsby is trying to teach us is not to hold on to things from the past that affect your life so much it might even mean that your life gets taken.

Gatsby tried to get Daisy to love hom again even though she was married to Tom and had a child with him.

Gatsby stopped having partiea so people wouldnt find out about him and Daisy. Gatsby also fires his old staff because he thinks that they gossip to much and replaces them with wolfsheims people and unlike gatsbys previous servants they are rude.

Gatsby told nick that he waited for daisy to give him the signal that she was ok and then he went to sleep. Gatsby says that nothing happened last night. Nick suggest that gatsby go away for sometime but he declines this because he needed to know what Daisy was going to fo now beforw he left. When Gatsby went to war he describes that he and daisy spemt the afternoon as to give them a deep memory for both of them as he was about to go away for a while. In the story the author inturrupts the story by the gardner asking to clean the pools because he is inferring that it is fall when things are dying like the leaves and of course Murtle.

In chapter 5 Gatsby and Daisy met at Nicks House and from there they went to Gatsby's house and he showed them shirts which made Daisy think I could have had this for 5 years of i was with Gatsby. When Gatsby was about to meet Daisy he was pale from nervousness.

The beginning of the book is background of the characters and as the author gives background he puts in a detail about the narrator having a dog and he put that in order for the reader to connect more to the character and to keep them wanting to find out what will happen to him next.

On August 12^th, 2019 I walked into Dr. Preston’s I felt kind of glad that I got your class once again for English because last year I learned a lot of life lessons and the thinks you taught. The lessons that really stood out to me were how to improve your critical thinking, memorizing, and public speaking. I also liked when we presented our own topic that we were really intrigued by and then presented to the class.

I found it very interesting because I have never had a class where the teacher let the students pick how the class was going to be taught. I also liked when you left the room for us the students to discuss about how the class would be taught. I also payed more attention to you because of how you could relate to us because you didn’t really like the way the school taught English and how they weren’t really teaching us life skills that we would later need.

My first time doing a journal I thought that it would not just be boring but, then you introduced topic that were interesting to learn about and from then on I liked doing them especially the ones where we would write down what was on our mind as soon as we walked in the classroom and the class started. I wasn’t really feeling the blogs because I didn’t really feel comfortable with my things on line and videos I just feel weird when I see myself in a video of some sort and hear my voice. The only other thing that I can think of that has been new to me has been the recent interview that we had because I had never done something like that and I am happy that I did it because now I can practice in interviews in order to get better.

A point where I felt the most tension was probably to do one of the poetry videos because I didn’t really want to put a video of me where I saw myself and other people could see it and I was really shy to do it. But then I said to myself hey this is to build up my skills in memorization and to help me in life like to remember stuff like building an engine in a car since I want to be a mechanic.

I don’t really have a routine for doing stuff I just do it when I know its important. I have made up a few blogs that I knew were important and then went back and did them. I am a different learner than the learner that I was in August because I now know how to write better, but I still need to work on my speaking a bit and how to present myself better for an interview like adding context to my answers. I have also learned a lot of vocabulary that will help me in the future because im guessing that we will be more advanced in technological.

For nonconformity the world whips you with its displeasure.

Being like everyone else will just make you like a drone and be like everyone else but if you seperate yourself and be yourself then you will be true to yourself and not fit in because the world is about fitting in but when you are your true self then you'll feel good when you do things that are good instead of doing things that make you look good.

Emerson talks about the different stages of how your development is and I completely agree with him because he is right when we were young we were filled with energy and didnt question anything but as we got older we grew a conscience of our own and questioned everything we did or thought

My first impression of the Self Reliance essay excerpt is that it has a lot of meaningful thought put into in it because it talks about alot of stuff that relates and that is true to most of us around the world

The Pedestrian Goes for A Walk

It had been long since people went outside and did active and social activities. In Bradbury's story it shows how he feels about technology by the tone he tells the story in. The character he chooses to represent himself in the story he is telling and the plot of the whole story.

The tone he uses to tell the story is as he is disappointment in the human race for allowing themselves to be enslaved to their own entertainment. He states this in the story by saying " as he peered down which road to go toward ... It made no difference he was alone in the year 2053 A.D." He is predicting that soon technology will take over and people wont want to go outside and enjoy the fresh air and the scenery of the outside world.

The plot he uses for the story is fairly simple because it just has hive walking down the street getting stopped arrested and just driving away in the back of a police car. But when he gets stopped it is not a police officer but only a car and apparently it is the only law enforcement that people need in that time period. I think he puts this in and saying that the one patrol car is the only law enforcement because it shoes how technology has really taken over. Rather than having the 40 to 60 police officers protecting and serving it has 1 very advanced piece of technology. And that it is a crime or rather weird if people go for walks because people don't do it in that time period .

The character that Bradbury chooses to use for his story are the futuristic talking car and a man that takes walks regularly

The event that occurred to Ray Bradbury really helped set the tone, character, and plot of the story because it is really relatable
